Consider a “Family Foundation” for using AI

When we outsource our judgement to AI, even if in the smallest of ways, we are abdicating our formation.

The following program uses interactive activities to teach concepts of formation and simultaneously create a document that can be used for guardrails by conversational AI.

The activities are intended for groups, and the concepts are best taught in-person. The app is supplemental to the live event.

This concept is the continuation of an idea I presented at an Anthropic pitch competition aimed at solving for “critical thinking.” Ironically, I’ve had to stretch my critical thinking skills further than I thought to create this prototype, but have I loved every minute of it.

I am sharing this with my community for feedback. If the ideas resonate, I would greatly appreciate you sharing or connecting me directly with people. All feedback and collaboration is welcome.

Though it is far from finished, I believe this program could serve families looking to engage with any emerging technology in a thoughtful way. Ultimately, critical thinking is less a choice and more a byproduct of the type of person that thinks critically. Forming the next generation should not be left to AI.
